Marti Hummel
A little about myself.... I am Marti Hummel nee Bekker, I was born in Arusha, Tanzania in 1957. I was privileged to have a veterinary field officer as a father which took me into the 'bundus' of East Africa. I am one of four girls and my Dad picked me to be his 'boy', called me Piet, cut my hair short and dressed me in dungarees. For this came the privilege of going on Safari with him when he went out to inocculate the Masai's cattle and so I spent a lot of my youth on the Serengetti as well as Masai Mara, Ambuselli as well as other game parks.
Needlessly to say, I have a deep love of the bush and wild animals, and have always wanted to sketch so during lock-down I decided to give it a go. My first series is called 'African Trees', each one of the three sketches has a bull elephant on it. Each of the trees is symbolic of Africa and has a symbiosis with the Elephants which I have described in the brief outlines for each of them.
Enjoy and appreciate the beauty of Africa in your home and office.
